Dataddo Appfigures connector enables simple API data extraction without writing a single line of code.
When setting up the connection to Appfigures, you are asked to provide a username, password, and client-key. Whilst username and password are the actual credentials to your account, the client key is obtained by navigating to https://appfigures.com/developers/keys (make sure that you are still logged in). The best practice is to create a dedicated "service" account (not associated with a particular person).
Username is the actual username that you are using to log into the Appfigures app (usually an email address).
Password is the actual password that you are using to log into the Appfigures app.
- Navigate to https://appfigures.com/developers/keys (make sure that you are still logged in).
- Click on "Create a new client".
3. Label the client and set all the permissions to READ (this is important).
4. Copy the Client Key.
Available metrics and attributes
Dataddo Appfigures Connector allows retrieving all the data available via an official Appfigures API. All available metrics and attributes are listed in the Appfigures API documentation.
Creating an Appfigures Data Source
To create an Appfigures data source, navigate to Sources at the top left of the Dataddo app.
Then click on New Source in the top right corner.
From the list of connectors, choose the Appfigures connector.
You will be redirected into the Appfigures connector where you can select the required Dataset.
If you are not sure which Dataset you need, but -for example- know which metrics and attributes you are looking for, you can use the Search for Dataset function on the left or you can browse through all the possible attributes and metrics for each Dataset by clicking on the right arrow.
Once you select a Dataset, you can start with the configuration by clicking on Next.
Missing metric or attribute?
Once you select a Dataset, click on Next. You will be requested to give Dataddo authorization to connect with your Appfigures account.
Your Appfigures token will be automatically assigned -after the authorization process- to the required boxes.
Having a problem with the authorization process?
Next, you can name your data source, and select the required attributes.
To help you with the snapshotting setting, you can follow our suggestions depending on your destination.
- Click on the option "Dashboarding App" if you want your data to connect to applications, like Google Data Studio, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Click on the option "Data Warehouse", If you want your data to be sent to warehouse storage, like MySQL, Big Query, or PostgreSQL.
- If you are already experienced with the snapshotting setup, you can go ahead and process without selecting the two options.
Lastly, you can check whether the suggested setting suits you, or you can make amends and configure your snapshotting preferences, choosing Snapshotting frequency, and Snapshotting retention yourself. Click on See Preview to review all the selections made by you before finalizing and saving the Data Source.
Now you are all set and ready. Click on See Preview to review all the selections made by you before saving the Data Source using the buttons in the top right corner - either Save and Exit or Save & Create Flow. To create a flow, please follow our Creating a data flow guide.
