Integrate your data from your sources to your destination of choice without writing a single line of code
In this article, we are going to explain how you can connect your data to a BI or dashboarding app such as Tableau, Power BI or Google Data Studio. We are going to demonstrate the creation of a flow using a source with data from Xero and setting Google Data Studio as a destination.
What is Data Flow?
Data flows allow you to orchestrate the integration of your data from various online services (in this example, Xero) to your desired BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Google Data Studio. Within a single data flow, you can include data from multiple data connections. This is particularly handy for organizations that handle multiple social network accounts those that need to merge data from different services together for a consolidated output.
Creating a Data Flow
To create a data flow, navigate to Data Flows at the top left of the Dataddo app.
Then click on New Flow in the top right corner.
Click on Add Source.
Below, you will see all the data sources you have created and saved earlier. Select one of the data sources from below.
Once you click on the data source, you will have a data preview of your dataset. If you happen to have another source with the same columns (for example for a different Xero account or tenant), you can add this as well, creating one final table in your destination instead of two or more.
If everything looks ok, you can go ahead and select the destination where you want us to send your data to. Click on Add Destination.
You can set the destination based on the saved destinations you have created before, or you can simply Create New Destination.
Once you select the destination that you want us to send your data to, you can go ahead and press Configuration.
Now you can label the Data Flow and then click on Create Flow.
Lastly, you will need to configure your dashboard by following the steps in the Configure dashboard window, using the Dataddo API keys and API Endpoints ID. For more information about how to connect for example to Klipfolio, please follow our guides here.
In the data blending mode, you can merge two data sources to one destination, to have a more versatile data flow. To blend data, first, turn on the data blending mode.
Choose two data sources to blend them together.
In here, you need to select a Left Source Column and a Right Source Column of the same type, in order to join the two sources together. You can also exclude a column from the final result by just clicking on it.
You can select the type of joining for the data sources.
- Left Join returns records from the left column source and those records that satisfy a condition from the right column source. In this example, CurrencyCode.
- Inner Join returns records only for values matching in both sources.
You can have more than one operation. Just click on Add Operation to have another JOIN connection. (Optional)
Finally, you can choose a destination where you want us to move the dataset. Click on Configuration in the top right corner, name the data flow and press Create Flow.
