Available for Instagram Business Accounts only

Since the Instagram API only allows Instagram Professional accounts (Businesses and Creators) to manage their presence on Instagram, all Dataddo Instagram connectors follow the same rules.

Setting up Instagram Business Account

Follow these steps to switch your profile to a professional one:

  1. Go to your profile and click on the menu in the upper right corner.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Click on Switch to Professional Account. (optional)

  4. Select Business.

  5. Add details, like your business category and contact information.

  6. Click on Done.

Additionally, you can connect your professional account to a Facebook Page associated with your business. Step 3 is optional and will make it easier to use all of the features available for businesses across the Facebook family of apps. Currently, only one Facebook Page can be connected to your professional account.

Available Metrics

Dataddo can extract all the metrics provided via an official API. The full list is available here.

  • Instagram API has a hard limit for the total number of rows that can be extracted. Dataddo supports automatic pagination, so the data extraction is in fact distributed into multiple rows.
  • The limit for historical data is 30 days, therefore you need to load the data in batches as far as one year back and only for business Instagram pages. If you need data from a private page, first you need to change the page to business in the profile settings.

Exception is followers metric. You can get information on the number of followers each day, but can only load the last 30 days, older data is not possible to load.  You can keep a current snapshot and see the actual situation, or ""append"" the data and build a time series of your data.

  • Reels are not supported from the Instagram API and therefore, Dataddo cannot extract them.

Multi-account Extraction

Dataddo Instagram Business connector supports automatic extraction from all the available Instagram Accounts. This feature is particularly useful when you have (e.g. being an online agency) multiple accounts and need to automatically extract the same metrics and dimensions across them.

Broken View / Error Message

If you cannot see a preview of your data, go back a few steps and check your setup. The most common causes are:

  • Date range - we recommend a smaller date range. If you need to load historical data, check our guide.
  • Invalid metrics, attributes or breakdowns, or their combination - you may not have any values for them.
