Permissions

When authorizing access, make sure you have the correct permissions. To access the organization's page analytics data, sign in as an administrator. However, the best practice is to create a dedicated system user. Check the official documentation for further details.

Available Metrics

Dataddo can extract all the metrics provided via an official API. The full list is available here.

Limitations

Total Number of Rows

LinkedIn Ads API has a hard limit for the total number of rows that can be extracted. Dataddo supports automatic pagination, so the data extraction is in fact distributed into multiple rows. The exact limitation is available here.

Authorization

For LinkedIn, re-authorization is required every 60 days.

Metric and Ad Recall Data May Not Match

The problem with reach and ad recall metrics is that these metrics cannot be simply summed to get the totals for longer periods. The reason for this is that these metrics are measuring the daily unique users, who either see your ad (reach) or will remember the ad (ad recall). It is not possible to get data for a specific period and keep aggregating them.

  1. One option is to get the daily breakdown and then the daily values will match, but not when summing over more days.

  2. The second solution is to get the data weekly or monthly and again, these weekly/monthly values will match LinkedIn exactly.

    1. The way to achieve this is to create a new source and then a new flow with the particular breakdown (for example, source and flow with daily breakdowns/synchronizations)

Read more about the metrics, and why the data may not be matching here.

Ads Types

The LinkedIn ads platform supports a number of ad formats for an ads campaign with different field attributes. There are two kinds of Ad Creatives Text Ad and Sponsored Status Update.

Dataddo Tip

If you create Sponsored content, the text and title fields will be empty. If you want to see all the information about your ads, you need to create two data sources, one for Advertising insights and one for Sponsored Updates (i.e. shares data), make sure both sources have Share ID attribute, and then blend the sources in Datadado when creating a flow.

TextAdCreativeVariables

Multi-account extraction

Dataddo LinkedIn Ads connector supports automatic extraction from all the available LinkedIn Ads accounts. This feature is particularly useful when you have (e.g. being an online agency) multiple accounts and need to automatically extract the same metrics and dimensions across them.

    * Broken View / Error Message

If you cannot see a preview of your data, go back a few steps and check your setup. The most common causes are:

    • Date range - we recommend a smaller date range. If you need to load historical data, check our guide.
    • Invalid metrics, attributes or breakdowns, or their combination - you may not have any values for them.
      Data source -create- error(3)
