## Authorize Connection to Salesforce Pardot

### In Salesforce
To authorize your Salesforce Pardot account, you will need **your Pardot business unit ID** which is used for APIs.
1. In your Salesforce account, find **Business Unit** in the **Quick Find** box.
2. Click on **Business Unit Setup**.
3. Copy the **Business Unit ID**, which has 16 digits, next to your business unit name.

### In Dataddo

1. On the **Authorizers** page, click on [Authorize New Service](https://app.dataddo.com/service/new){target="_blank"} and select Salesforce Pardot.
2. Fill in your **Pardot Business Unit ID**. Make sure you're using the business unit ID meant for APIs.
3. Select your **Salesforce version**. Make sure you choose the correct version because the available datasets and fields differ between versions, impacting the data you can extract.
4. Rename your ***{{glossary.authorizer}}*** for easier identification and click on **Save**.

## Troubleshooting

### Version Incompatibility

If you select an ***{{glossary.authorizer}}*** that was created with different Salesforce API versions than the selected dataset, the extraction will likely fail or return incorrect data. This is because the fields and object definitions differ between Salesforce versions (e.g., v4 vs. v5).

Ensure the API version used by the dataset matches the version used by the authorizer:

* **Select the right dataset**: Re-select the dataset. The version names are indicated in the dataset names (e.g. `Campaigns V4` vs. `Campaigns V5`).
* **Create a new authorizer**: If you need a different version, create a new ***authorizer*** specifically configured for the required Salesforce version and use it to create a new ***data source***.
